Chest, rest, d4, d8
A downloadable game
Created for the 8-Page Pocket RPG Jam.
This is a one-page PDF you can print out and fold into an 8-page pocket zine.
Make it to the end of a five-floor dungeon and defeat the final boss to win. On each floor you can choose a harder route, for more rewards, or an easier route if you need to play it safe.
Items in treasure chests will help you beat enemies. You have magic spells, but if they fail you lose them forever.
There are two files available: "Print" and "Digital".
Use the print version if you plan to print this out and fold it into an 8-page pocket zine. You can find instructions on the game jam home page.
Use the digital version if you want to view this on your computer, or don't want to fold it up. The print version has text upside down which will make it hard to read.

Super nice and well presented. Thank you.
Thank you. If you play it and have any thoughts, let me know.
As a small game or module it works flawlessly! I agree with @the_sponegemonkey that it would be nice to have a system to change the difficulty of the game as you progress. But I think that the beauty of the game lies in it's simplicity, so I would not complicate things too much.
Hey man, just gave this a go. A nice easy system, rules are clear. I made it to the boss and landed 2 hits before it killed me.
If I had any suggestions it would be finding some way to increase the enemy challenge per floor to scale up with you. Once you get a couple of items from the chests you do breeze through each room. Maybe a modifier or 2 just to keep it spicy.
I enjoyed my playthrough though, nice work and thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for this. I'll think about a way to make things a little more difficult as it goes along.
